In the little world of my childhood days,
There were kites, and kites, and kites alone.
In the little world where you once grew,
Life was adorned with earrings, bangles, necklaces, and charms.
The spinning globe turned on without our knowing,
And time quietly slipped away.
Before we ever realized it,
We drifted apart and slowly became adults.
In my world, there were distant horizons,
New roads leading toward unseen goals.
Medals, medals, medals—
Victories I was expected to win for life itself.
And so I never found the time
To turn around and look behind.
Numbers, numbers, numbers—
They came to measure and decide almost everything.
The world kept spinning without our notice,
And the years continued to pass.
The wealth and power we once chased
Eventually found their way into our hands.
Then one day, in that race called life,
A pause was finally granted to me—
In a café, a café, a quiet little café.
Alone with myself,
I found the courage to look back.
And when I did,
What remained for me were only
Sighs upon sighs upon sighs…
For all the kites that vanished into the sky,
For all the earrings that shimmered in forgotten days,
And for the childhood we never knew
Was saying goodbye.
